RENO, Nevada (Aug. 1, 2018) — Carl Ribaudo, founder and president of destination marketing firm SMG Consulting, today announced his appointment to the Nevada Commission on Tourism’s Marketing Committee. Ribaudo will contribute over 25 years of experience in marketing, measurement, research and strategic planning for destination marketing organizations to the Committee.
Ribaudo has served as a trusted adviser to CEOs, senior executives, tourism business improvement districts and municipalities — assisting individuals and groups such as these to make key decisions about how to tell the stories of their region, enhance destination competitiveness, manage organizational change and chart the overarching destination marketing strategy.
As part of the Marketing Committee, Ribaudo will assist his fellow appointees in reviewing research, providing insight, as well as assisting in the development and execution of marketing plans for the Nevada Division of Tourism (TravelNevada).
The organization, which has seen meaningful success with marketing efforts such as those promoted through the “Don’t Fence Me In” campaign, plays a critical role in driving tourism business and overnight stays statewide.
Ribaudo, a trusted voice in the tourism and destination marketing industry, is a frequent contributor to the Reno Gazette-Journal, the Tahoe Daily Tribune, and other publications. He shares research and analysis about matters pertaining to tourism business, economic development, and the impacts of tourism on residents.
In addition to his work at SMG Consulting, Ribaudo also donates his time to various committees and charitable causes, serving as the Board President for the Tahoe Resource Conservation District, a board member for the El Dorado Arts Council, and advisory committee member for San Francisco State University’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism.
